Responses to a hypothetical question relating to acquisition of wealth by inheritance were obtained from employees of two developing countries Turkey (n = 287) and Cyprus (n = 359) in an atttempt to ferret out the motive for working. Comparative analysis of the results with those obtained earlier in 7 developed countries showed no significant difference in orientations to work between developed and developing countries.
