The importance of anger in human physical and mental health is widely accepted in psychology today. A cross cultural study that incorporate quantitative and qualitative approach was conducted to investigate the description and contrast about antecedents of anger of the Indonesian from two different ethnic groups, Bataks and Javanese ethnics. Antecedent questionnaire was created and applied to find out about the anger antecedent on 80 Batak people who lived in Medan and 82 Javanese who lived in Yogyakarta. Interpersonal conflict seems to be anger antecedent for Batak people and not for Javanese. Based on those results, it could be concluded that cultural display rules has a role in shaping the personality and the behavior stereotype of individuals in each culture. Further study on anger still needs to be conducted to enrich the understanding of the anger emotion on Indonesia society. |
