Isi artikel
The rains have been bolstered by what Juan Manuel Santos, Colombia's president called "that damned Nina" (referring to a disruption in weather patterns associated with unusually low surface temperatures in the eastern Pacific). They have caused 114 deaths in the three months to December 2nd, according to the Red Cross. Another 21 people are missing. Seven women died when a mudslide buried a house in Tolima on December 5th. Rather than guerrillas, violent crime or the economy, it is the floods that are "the worst problem" he has had to face since taking power in August 2010, Mr Santos has said.
