The paper is intended to observe how an English teacher implements character building in her English class. The teacher’s techniques of implementing character building, the reasons of implementing the techniques and the teaching media used by the teacher are interesting to observe since this school uses English as the medium of instruction and Chinese and Bahasa Indonesia as the second and third languages. This paper is an obsevational qualitative study. It was conducted at Primary in a semester at Primary 1 Ruby where the writer was the non participant observer so she did not take any participation in English teaching and learning activities. The writer obtained the data from interviews, observation field notes and picture taking. The result of the study shows that the techniques of implementing at Singapore National Academy are helpful for the students since they are able to learn the value of having the positive character while they are learning English in class.in. On the other hand, the teacher still needs to apply more engaging and interactive activities in order to make the character building activities implemented in class become more enjoyable and effective.
