Isi artikelGood character comes from teaching and example. Teaching affects character. However, examples are also crucially needed. Those can be found in literature. An advantage of using literature in building character is that the teaching is neutral, and not perceived by the child, especially older children, as judgmental or condemning. In other words, it is sympathetic to the child. The development of good character will encourage students to grow with the capacity and commitment to do things the best and do everything right and have a purpose in life. Considering the moral value and noble character containing in the fables, this writing attempts to reveal the opportunity of using fables in learning process for character building. As the data sample, a fables is analyzed using Greimas actantial model to reveal the components of good character implied by the story. The components are moral knowing, moral feeling, and moral action.
