This research aims to find out: (1) the kinds of written communicative tasks performed by the graduates of English Department in their jobs after their graduation; (2) the written communicative skills required from the English graduates in conducting the communicative tasks; and (3) whether the writing lesson plans used by the English Department have reflected the communicative tasks and communicative skills might be performed by alumni of English Department in the future. The data were collected by using questionnaires and document review. The questionnaires were used to find out the communicative tasks and skills performed by the graduates of English department. Document review was aimed to investigate whether the writing lesson plans used in English Department have reflected the communicative tasks and skills performed by the graduates of English Department. The data were then analysed and presented. At this stage, it can be said that the writing lesson plans used by English Department have accommodated some of the needs of English graduates in performing writing tasks in their jobs. However, it is still necessary to conduct a similar research with more respondents from various occupational background in order to have a more comprehensive description.
