This paper takes up the concept of human’s great expectation that is a capacity basic to all of the human being. Human’s great expectation is a central element that occurs in most of literary works. The idea of the true meaning of great expectation is portrayed and explored to see a common attitude of human’s truly great expectation. Through the study of literature, human’s truly great expectation will be analyzed to capture the idea of growth and maturity of a character. The analysis centers on a journey of one’s great expectation and how this expectation brings him to his maturity; what the character learns and has to unlearn to make him become a mature person. As a result, human’s great expectation then bring one’s growing to their maturity and raising a character that have in his heart: honesty, love, and acceptance of life.
