Isi artikel
This study began with the finding that the U.S.Department of Defense does not tabulate data on family characteristics of casualities in Vietnam, and has no interest in doing so. With data from various sources, the impact of the war upon families is considered in relation to deaths and injuries, ethnic differentials, military family life, resocialization of veterans, father-absence, marriage and divorce, sex roles, and bereavement. Denial or hiding of grief is regarded as a sign of impaired or undeveloped empathy, a factor contributing to preventable family losses, and therefore relevant to the prevention of accidents and other catastrophes, including war.
