Patients who used braces need to know how to maintain their oral hygiene, because, in mostly cases, an orthodontic treatment needs a long time of periode for patient to use it. The objective of this paper is to discuss the importance of oral hygiene in orthodontic treatment. The method used library research and the data analyzed descriptively. It is important to know that basically, orthodontic patient not aware of their oral hygiene and this habit usually make an accumulation of food debris around the braces that it can produce a progress of caries, gingivitis, periodontitis also recession of gingival in their mouth. As long as a patient used braces, they nedd to check theie tooth also periodontal tissues around their braces and fluoride applicationmust be done well. So that, dentist and patient must have a good cooperation for the orthodontic treatment in order to reach the best result.
