Isi artikel
Data were collected from a random sample of parents of sixth graders in a midwestern city, probing the parents' perceptions of the role of television in their children's lives. Certain interaction patterns between spouses and between parents and children which relate to television were examined. Mothers' and lathers' reports were examined separately, controlling for social class and education. The data reveal that mothering patterns are similar across class and educational lines, but fathering patterns are not. The differences in mothers' and fathers' perceptions have implications for the current literature on socialization, most of which is presented only from the perspective of the mother
