Isi artikelThis paper investigates the importance of spouse's companionship support for handicapped persons. Data were obtained through case records and questionnaires of 245 subjects. Although spouse support is statistically associated with employment success on the part of the handicapped, its actual effect is related to the sex and education of the person towards whom it is directed. Noteworthy is the finding that spouse support tends to be more predictive' of employment success among the more educated. It is reasoned that the lower educated male is less capable of expressing or receiving companionship support, and that higher educated couples participate more in joint marital activities.
