Isi artikel
Family planning is presumed to contain the potential of yielding reduced rates of reproductive wastage. This effect has not yet been observed in the United States; nor has the relation of family planning to pregnancy loss been investigated. It is questionable as to whether or not loss rates, as conventionally computed, provide appropriate evaluative criteria for the early detection of the desired effect. The basis for this position is developed, following which are presented data relating to a necessary condition which must hold if the assumed relation is to be manifested. The tentative conclusion drawn is that the relationship appears real and that postpartum programs may hold greatest potential for its early demonstration.
