Isi artikelThe Netherlands has been experiencing a decline in its birth rate since 1965. To gain some insight into the possible reasons for this decline, the authors interviewed 400 women whose first marriage took place in the city of Utrecht in 1961 and who were still residing with their first husbands in this city in 1967. The factors considered in this interview were: (1) actual and intended reproductive behavior; (2) religious affiliation; (3) education; (4) socioeconomic status; (5) housing.
