A spot map of divorces in a city of 42,000 portrayed a "measles pattern," i.e., clusters, rather than a zonal one. This research was undertaken to determine whether the divorce applicants knew each other and whether "contagion" might be taking place. Calling repeatedly at the filled in the divorce suits, we were able to reach only 47 individuals. Of these, only four gave the names of friends who had recently been divorced.
