Isi artikel
This paper is based on part of the analysis of data of a sample of East Indian children whose perceptions of parental preferences were studied by means of an adoption story-a technique used in an American study by Hartley et al. The Indian study confirmed the American finding of "no generalized partiality for either sex" in perceptions of children and same-sex preference of the story father figure, but it failed to confirm similar-sex preference of the story mother figure. Cross-cultural differences are discussed in light of Indian culture.
