Fossil fuels are non-renewable fuels which cause frequent scarcity of fuel in Indonesia. Used of plastic and plastic-based goods is increasing along with the development of technology, industry and population. Plastic waste is a waste that is very difficult to be broken down by microorganisms in the soil, therefore there is an increase in the amount of plastic waste every year. Plastic waste that is often used by the public is bottled water (PET) and plastic bags (LDPE). Plastic waste can be converted into fuel oil by the pyrolysis method which can be used to mix gasoline as alternative energy. Pyrolysis oil is mixed with pertalite at a ratio of 10%, 15% and 20% used on motorbikes. Experiments carried out to measure maximum power and torque using a dynamometer and measuring the level of exhaust emissions using an exhaust gas analyzer. The maximum power value obtained is directly proportional to the maximum torque obtained. The value of exhaust emissions of CO and HC in the mixture of MP fuel 10%, 15%, and 20% with idle engine conditions is still within the permissible limits. Addition of oil from plastic pyrolysis (PET) and (LDPE) on pertalite fuel with a mixture of MP 15% experienced maximum power while in MP 20% mixture had a better level of exhaust emissions than other fuels. |
