Isi artikel
Parental and child roles in families characterized by distinctive marital authority patterns are studied in two samples {486 adolescents,201 parents} by questionnaire and interview. If the authority roles of husband and wife are highly differentiated, the boy and girl roles and {with respect to open expression of affection and "democracy"} the adult and child roles, are more sharply differentiated. The father-daughter relationship is especially affected. However, these parents are not less permissive. The "dominant-sex" adolescent is more controlled by parents and the focus of more parental conflict. General sex differences are also reported
