In the present paper some observations will be discussed concerning family size, contraception, and birth rate in the Netherlands before and after the introduction of oral contraception. Subsequently some parallels will be drawn between developments in the Netherlands and several countries in eastern Europe, particularly Hungary, after legalization of induced abortion
