Isi artikelRational considerations suggested that child density, defined as number of living children divided by number of years married, should generally be negatively correlated with marital satisfaction (MS) among university student parents. Despite small positive correlations between MS and both number of years married and number of living children, this hypothesis was sustained among a sample of 40 couples having one or more children using a composite MS index based on spouses scores on both a short marital adjustment scale and a family concept measure. Verification of this finding might have important implications for cultural and religious views on the desirability of high child density
