Isi artikel
There is an ideal family type in the United States which includes a man and woman living together under socially approved circumstances, with their offsprings, alone in a household. While this ideals realized in a large proportion of families, there are variations which are related to, among other things, residence and race. Data for 2,219 families are examined for the relationship between family stability, family living patterns, residence, and race. While the hypotheses suggested by the literature are, in general, substantiated, the results indicate that family patterns are best understood when these four are viewed simultaneously as a total relationship.
