Isi artikelThis paper focuses on three themes related to Jewish family structure: (1) family structure differences of Jews and non-Jews, (2) generational changes in the Jewish family, and (3) differential family structure within the Jewish population. Data on four aspects of the family were obtained from a random sample of the Providence metropolitan area Jewish community. The analyses revealed the overall stability, as well as generational changes, in the Jewish family. It appears that assimilation in terms of family structure has occurred for the Jewish group, although slowly, and with the retention of the value of family cohesion.
