An analysis of the intensity of the ten traits of the Guilford-Zimmerman Temperament Survey in relation to the three groups of couples matched according to marital happiness-unhappiness described in an earlier study showed the three female groups to be more homogenous than the three male groups in terms of trait mean scores. Marital happiness is associated with fewer trait differences in means between husbands and wives and with the presence of favorable counter-balancing traits in wives.
