This paper deals with problems in the area of family life education and marriage counseling which are encountered by the practicing obstetrician-gynecologist in the United States today. The purpose of the paper is to acquaint the family life educator-marriage counselor with these problems and to emphasize the need for research and education in the area as well as more and better communication between the disciplines that are vitally concerned with marriage and the family.
