Abstract
For many years, EFL students rarely have positive attitude toward reading. Indonesian students tend to face many difficulties in reading classroom. They have
difficulty in understanding the English reading because the language system is different. They claim that reading in Indonesian is much easier because Indonesian is their first language so they have mastered the vocabulary and the structure. Besides
that, they get bored easily because of the teachers’ technique and strategy in teaching. Normally, in reading classroom, English teachers in Indonesia ask their students to read the text silently and let the students to open dictionary or ask the teacher
whenever they find unfamiliar vocabulary. Most of the students are passive and they feel that learning reading comprehension is boring (Sinambela, Manik &
Pangaribuan, 2015).
