Education has undergone major changes triggered by globalization and the market principals that have infiltrated the field. Marketization of education, combined, with reduced traditional resources, the increasing competition and the accountability requerement in educational institutions have brought changes in the management of these institutions. The role of education leaders is then very important in smoothly adapting the changes, being the agents of change in their institutions. One of the important skills for the educational leaders is to maximize their communication skills, especially to manage new stakeholders. his paper delivers a literature review on the general changes in educational sector, and how the leaders should enhance their communication skills in response. It will also briefly discuss the changes in Indonesia and, conequently, the communication skills that should be mastered by its educational leaders.
