Lecturers need to realize that English is not merely a communication tool but also an important part in their daily activities. The needs of English in connected to motivation and language globalization. The objective of this paper is to present an argument that lecturers need to study English because of self improvement, professional development and transfer knowledge as well as understanding language in the internet. The method used library research coupled with the analysis of trends in language learning. The result shows that in the long process of language learning, the lectures should create instrumental motivation as pragmatical reason so that learning English becomes more effective especially in implementing the Higher Learning Triad of Duties.
