Abstract
Usage of gasoline-bioethanol mixture is one way to reduce air pollution on motor vehicle. Bioethanol is made from extraction of glucose containing plants. Independent variables used in this experiment are E5, E10, E15, and E20 ratio of gasoline-bioethanol mixtures. Experiment was conducted using a dynamometer to measure maximum power and torque, and exhaust gas analyzer to measure exhaust emissions level. The usage of gasoline-bioethanol mixture leads to decreases of CO and HC emissions and increases of CO2 and NOx emissions level. Carbon footprint calculation shows decreases in the amount of generated CO2 as the increases of bioethanol composition. Value of maximum power and torque generated on gasoline-bioethanol mixture decreases due to knocking. E20 bioethanol composition usage put out highest maximum power and torque while producing least exhaust emissions level than other bioethanol mixtures.
