Abstract
Naphthalene believed as additive to increase fuel resistance towards combustion chamber pressure and temperature. This undergraduate thesis aims to determine naphthalene gasoline addition effect on exhaust gas emissions and engine performance. Research conducted using experimental study of exhaust gas emissions and engine performance with usage of basic gasoline and 1.1%, 50%, 75%, 100% naphthalene addition measured from maximum naphthalene solubility in octane at 115.35 g/l. Results reveal that naphthalene gasoline addition generally leads to CO2 and NOx emission reductions as well as the increases of engine maximum torque and power.
