Abstract
The waste management problems in Indonesia have not been properly taken care of. Waste reduced within the community, who are the waste producers, as well as within the region, are still remaining ca 5%, which are transferred to the Temporary Processing Unit. While, the Final Processing Unit capacity is very limited. Awareness of waste management needs to be improved by looking at the bad side of landfilling, especially plastic waste. If the landfill is not immediately get handling from various parties, will undoubtedly have a bad impact on the surrounding environment. Based on these problems, the development of tools on waste recycling is considered to have the potential to support waste reduction and from the economic side will also generate benefits for people in need. PLN Housing Area located in Kelurahan Jatinegara, East Jakarta, is a housing area that has problems with the economic power of its inhabitants. By developing organic waste composting machine, Multipurpose Waste Processing Machine was designed with the embodyment design and detail design method. After the machine design is completed, the meachine is made and tested. The result is the multipurpose waste processing machine are capable of producing plastic PET type, PP, and PVC, as well as materials to be used as compost. All the results of the waste count can be sold and generate a profit of 28.4% compared to selling plastic waste without chopping it first.
