Abstract
Sand is the main material in the manufacture of sand molds in the metal casting industry. The use of sand in accordance with the criterion of sand mold is a requirement to produce a cast product to your liking. One of the cast products is FCD 700. Ferro Casting Ductile (FCD700) is a cast iron with a carbon content higher than 2.0%, the carbon content present in FCD 700 is about 3.5 to 3.8% and has a pearlite microstructure with slightly ferrite and rounded graphite. FCD 700 has a tensile strength of 700N / mm2, 2% min elongation. This research will discuss the extent of the effect of recycled sand on cast sand casting FCD 700 products. The results of the use of recycled sand on FCD 700 with 100% grend sand and 95% recycled greend sand did not affect the mechanical properties or structures formed, however distinguishing from the use of greend sand is on the surface roughness.
