Abstract
Almost everyone has a living room at his residence and is considered to be an important part that must be owned by everyone's residence. However, the use of the living room is very rare and takes a huge space. So in the previous research conducted to develop the concept of product table and chair for living room to save space and generate the concept tables and chairs for living room that can also can be used for wall displays when the tables and chairs for living room not used so it can save more space for living room. However, previous research only do the concepts development and there is no more detailed design. In this research using embodiment design, detail design, and testing prototype of tables and chairs for living room. Embodiment design is carried out by selecting the material used on the product, determining the connection of the table and chair for living room and determining the dimensions of the tables and chairs for living room. In detail design the researcher do the make or buy decision to determine the components made or purchased, making the bill of materials, engineering drawings to know the detail dimensions of each components of the table and chair for living room, and estimates of prototype manufacturing costs. From the prototype test results that the table and chair for living has a mass of 7 kg and 5 kg and can can withstand loads up to 50 kg for the table and 100 kg for the chair. In space-saving testing it is known that the table can be stored at 96% smaller than when it becomes a table and guest chair can be stored at 78.9% smaller. RWL calculations are performed to determine whether the lifting activities of desks and guest for loving room when they become wall displays can cause the risk of injury to the user.
