Trader-turned-industrialist Gautam Adani has survived terrorists and kidnappers. He'll need that luck to hold for his high-stakes bet in India's Gujarat to pay off. More benevolance would be wlecome. Adani group, which he founded as a trading outfit in 1998, has since diversified into infrastructure, including ports, power, special economic zones and real estate development. It has and $8 billion expansion under way over the next three years. But Adani's ambition could be imperiled by the country's slowing economy; GDP grew 5.3% last quarter, down from 9% in the previous year. The reluctance of banks to lend is another impediment.
