Isi artikel
A license that lasts for 70 years after the author is dead does not inspire creativity says intellectual property scholar William Patry. Lately he spends mush of his time on the Google books settlement, trying to salvage the company;s controversial effort to profit from providing access to 7 million books. It's an effort that conveniently jibes with the focus of his non-Google exploits: recasting copyrights as an economic and not a moral right. To media and publishing companies, Google is a parasite engorging itself on their content. Patry's response to these name-callers: Be more like Google. Copyrights won't save your business, but being innovative will.
