Isi artikelThis is a shared narrative, by five nurses and two lecturers who worked collaboratively on two undergraduate action research modules. They illustrate their research and education processes, characterised by critical reflection, use of ground rules, metaphor and imagery. Experiences that challenged and changed each of them are presented, including difficulties in obtaining ethical approval for research projects and integrating theory with nursing practice to facilitate beneficial change. Their learning had significant impact on their selves, in a personal sense and on their appreciation of the essential nature of working collaboratively to foster critical reflection and meaningful learning. In a small way at least, they feel they have made a difference, a difference that is more than serendipitous, that patients are benefiting from.
