Isi artikelThe strength of a component made from carbon steel decreases as the load applied continuously to the component. Therefore, exploitation of mechanical property of steel to maintain high strength even though load is applied is an interesting topic. One way to improve mechanical property of carbon steel is by alloying process. Manganese steel is the steel containing Mn which varies from 1-12%. Mn as alloying element increase austenite region to the room temperature, and is called hardfield Steel. The austenite region in steel facilitates the transformation of austenite to become martensite by slip deformation mechanism. The amount of deformation influence phase transformation. In the long run, it affects the increase of strength. Generally, obtain phase from transformation are ferrite, pearlite, martensite and retained austenite.
