The theme "Islam and Capitalism" is part of the discourse about the relationship between Islam and the West which could be juxtaposed with similar themes such as "Islam and Socialism," Islam and democracy," and Islam and human rights." The themes of this kind are the responses of Muslims to modern concepts that generally come from the West. This response greatly varies. This article tries to discuss the response of Muslims towards Capitalism. Some accept Capitalism, or accept it with modification, but others reject it. Muslim's rejection and acceptance of the concept depends on how the concept is understood or defined, and also how they understand and define Islam itself. A different definition or understanding will bring about different attitude towards a concept.
