Isi artikel
This study aims to present anthropometric dimensions of Indonesian elementary school students for the design of school furnitures. The research was conducted in Metropolitan Area of Jakarta, Indonesia. Three hundred and fifty elementary school students age between 6-11 years old were participated in this study. Nine anthropometric data of the subjects were measured including: stature, weight, elbow rest height, shoulder height, popliteal length, knee height, popliteal height, hip breadth and shoulder breadth. The mean, standar deviation (SD), percentile value of such anthropometric dimensions were calculated. Anthropometric dimensions results were presented in table so that they can be easily used by designers for the design of school furnitures. Result of anova test showed that there was a significant difference of poplietal height of students between age group and gender (p-value=0.000). Results of t-test within sex group showed that differences existed between popliteal height of boys and girl from 8, 9, 10 and 11 years odl (p value=0.000 for each age group). Further, these differences among age group and sex should be very important and should be taken into consideration in designing school furnitures to be used by students.
