Abstract
Background : In recent years, awareness of nutrition has become one of the world's focus attention. One of the public health issues related to nutrition is poor eating habits. These bad habits mainly occured in young adults and persist until the individuals become adults and even in their elderly. These bad habits could be related to the nutritional knowledge and dietary intake patterns.
Method : The research method was conducted using a cross sectional design. Respondents were 37 third year students of Faculty of Medicine and 47 third year students Faculty of Psychology Unika Atma Jaya in July 2017 - April 2018. Respondents were required to fill the nutritional knowledge questionnaire, activity level questionnaire, and food record questionnaires. The results of food record questionnaires were confirmed by food recall interview.
Results : The nutritional knowledge level of medical student group is significantly higher than that of the psychological student group, while the dietary intake pattern and composition of nutritional intake of both groups did not differ significantly. Bivariate analysis showed that there was no correlation between nutritional knowledge of healthy diet with dietary intake pattern (p = 0,05 on all variables).
Conclusions : There was no correlation between nutritional knowledge of healthy diet with dietary intake pattern. The nutritional knowledge level of the medical student group was significantly higher than the psychological student group. The majority of college students were undereaters and have an unbalanced distribution of nutritional intake.
