Background : Dermatomycosis is the disease of the skin, hair and nail caused by fungal infection. The prevalence of dermatomycosis in the world today is quite high, and will continue to increase, along with lifestyle changes, increasing population, increasing of the number of infectious diseases, mainly associated with diabetes mellitus (DM). Objectives : This study aims to make an overview regarding the distribution of dermatomycosis location to the type of disease in patients with type 2 DM in Atma Jaya Hospital period September 2016-January 2017. Method : This research is a descriptive research which data were collected during September 2016-January 2017. Results : There were 59 cases of type 2 DM patients diagnosed with dermatomycosis. In this diagnosis, onychomycosis was the highest, with 43 cases (74.58%), followed by 10 cases of candidiasis, (16.95%), dermatophytosis 5 cases (8.47%), consisting of 3 tinea corporis cases, 1 tinea cruris case, and 1 mixed infection of tinea corporis and tinea cruris cases. Most dermatomycosis infection is found on the lower body, particularly in the feet and toes (65.38%), whereas in the upper body, the most infection sites are in the armpit area (4.81%). The most common organism found infecting the upper and lower body parts is Candida spp. Conclusion : Most dermatomycosis infection is found in the lower body, especially in the feet and toes, while in the upper body, the armpit is the primary location. The most common organism that infect the upper and lower body parts are Candida spp. |
