Abstract
Background: Daily activities are potential to cause trauma. The proportion of trauma in Indonesia is dominated by blisters and bruises by 70.9%. Wound healing is a complex process, involving the work of various drugs. Moringa plants are plants that are commonly found in Indonesia. This plant has high flavonoid content which has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial effects and able to accelerating the wound healing process. Methodology: This was an experimental study using male Sprague Dawley rats, which were incised and given 3 different treatments for 10 days. A total of 30 samples were divided into 3 groups, the first group was only cleansed using NaCl 0.9% on the wound, the second group was given oral Moringa leaf extract and Nacl 0.9% on the wound, while the third group was applied with kelor leaf extract gel on the wound. The skin tissue were made into histologic slides and the amount of collagen was observed microscopically. Results: The mean percentage of control group/no treatment was 30%, oral group was 50%, and the gel group was 58%. The statistical test was performed using one way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result was p<0,05 which proved statistically that the percentage difference of collagen in all experimental group was significant. Conclusion: The results stated that applying kelor leaf extract gel has the highest effect in increasing the percentage of colllagen in wound healing process.
