Abstract
Background. Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a health problem in tropical and
subtropical regions of the world, including Indonesia. DHF is viral disease
transmitted to human by the bite of an infected Aedes aegypti. Knowledge and dengue
prevention practices of people are related to DHF incident.
Objective. To determine the difference about knowledge of DHF and dengue
prevention practices among families in Kelurahan Cengkareng Timur in 2016- 2017.
Methods. This study used the design of observational analytics study with case control approach. It used knowledge and dengue prevention practices questionnaire by interviewing 110 participants. The samples in this study were the families of dengue
case as many as 55 respondens and control families as many as 55 respondens. The results were analysed using chi-square test.
Result. Overall, most of the case participants (78,2%) and control participants (70,9%) had moderate knowledge about DHF. There was not statistically significant results of knowledge about DHF between case and control participants (p= 0,127). The dengue prevention practices among control participants were good (74,5%). Besides that, the case participants had bad dengue prevention practices (52,7%). There was statistically significant result of prevention practices between case and control participants (p=0,002).
Conclution. There was not any difference of the knowledge between case and control participants. There was significant difference of the dengue prevention practices between case and control participants.
