Isi artikelThis interviewtook place at the Language Testing Research Colloquium in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada (at the Chateau Laurier Hotel on July 21, 2005), at which Professor Bernard Spolsky was presented with the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate/International LanguageTesting Association Lifetime Achievement Award.Theconference provided a context for the points discussed with Nick Saville and Antony Kunnan, and some references were made to people who presented papers at the conference. In recognition of the award, Professor Spolsky gave a lecture, “On Second Thought,” during a symposium entitled Rethinking Language Testing: Voices From Experience, organized by MariWesche. He also made an after-dinner acceptance speech at the conference banquetwhenthe awardwas made.Someof the issues discussed in the interview were presented in these two talks.
