Abstract
Rotifer is food that suits for cultivating fish, shrimp^ or other organisms, especially in early stadium. As a zooptankton, rotifer has a function as .bridge between phytoplankton which has very small size and fish larva which has relatively big size.-Many researches concerning rotifer cultivation have been done. Nevertheless, those researches are still restricted to physics, chemistry, and biology factors. This study aims at increasing rotifer (Brachionus rotundiformis) production through ecology approach, that is through adding ecology agents (detritivore, herbivor, and predator) which are combined with kinds of food treatment (Chlorella sp. and PSatymonas sp.). Those ecology agents have a function as environment purifiers and controllers. In particular of predators, its function is to healthier the population through weak and sick individual predatton. Chlorella sp. relatively produced fast and high growth of rotifer, but it can't stand in a long period. Whereas, Phlymonas sp. shows low and slow growth pattern, but it is long-lasting. Most of ecology agents treatments show slower growth if they are compared to control treatments (without ecology agents additional). This evidence indicates that ecology agents which are tested tend to act as competitors or non selective predators. For further research, it is important to find cultivation techniques that make possible the ecology agents to selectively do its function in order not to obstruct the rotifer growth.
