The relation between depression and balance with cognitive function, especially in language function, is still a dispute and researcher not yet found other research about the relation in Indonesia. This study aims to find out the relation between depression and balance with cognitive function in elderly. Methods: This study used analytic cross sectional design. This study was conducted on elderly in West Jakarta, in December 2016 to February 2017 using the Geriatric Depression Scale 15 to assess depression, the Berg Balance Scale to assess balance, as well as the Boston Naming Test and Verbal Fluency Test to assess cognitive function. Results: The results showed a significant association between depression and balance with cognitive function assessed by Verbal Fluency Test (p=0.02), but there was no significant association between depression and balance with cognitive function assessed by Boston Naming Test( p>0.05). Conclusion: Elderly who suffers from both depression and balance disorder have a worse languange function than elderly who suffers only from depression or balance disorder.
