The research aims at identifying (1) patterns of the formation of new words in Balinese whose bases are derived from other languages (i.e., Indonesian and English) and (2) the number of the derivative forms of the new words in Balinese which were used in each pattern. Data in the form of the oral use of the Balinese new words were collected by using the observation method. Data related with the formation of new words were writtenly collected by employing the documentation method. In addition, interviews by giving key-words to the informants were also used. The result of the data analysis using the descriptive-qualitative method shows that in general, there are three patterns for the formation of the Balinese new words, namely P+B (Prefixs+Base), B+S (Base+Suffix), and C+B (Combination of Affixs+Base). The formation of new words under the P+B pattern was found to reach 68 words consisting of the N-+B pattern (34 words), the ka-+B pattern (16 words), the ma-+B pattern (14 words), the pa-+B pattern (1 word), and the a-+B pattern (1 word). The formation of new words under the B+S pattern was found to reach 138 words consisting of the B+-ang pattern (27 words), the B+-ang+-a pattern (21 words), the B+-a pattern (19 words), the B+-an pattern (18 words), the B+-e pattern (17 words), the B+-nyane pattern (17 words), the B+-ne pattern (13 words), and the B+-in pattern (6 words). Finally, the formation of new words under the C+B pattern was found to reach 103 words consisting of the (Nang)+ B pattern (40 words), the (ka-ang)+B pattern (38 words), the (N-in)+B pattern (7 words), the (ka-in)+B pattern (5 words), the (ka-an+ne/nyane)+B pattern (5 words), the (paan)+ B pattern (3 words), the (ma-an)+B pattern (2 words), the (pa+nyane)+B pattern (1 word), and the (ka-an)+B pattern (1 word). The total number of the Balinese new words found was 309 word
