Isi artikelThree Ateneo student suicides prompted theology professors to consider the possibility that the choice for death has in one form or another slipped into the culture of today's youth, presenting itself as a valid option among their horizon of possibilities. The deaths have also spurred them to ask where theology classes have failed students, such that they have not learned to detect the abyss and reject it. The paper proposes that due to existential sophistication we have forgotten the wisdom of our Biblical faith. It also argues that our beginnings and our endings lie beyond what we imagine and can imagine. We glimpse these eternities in the memory of our lost loved ones, when we yearn for those who have slipped beyond our reach.
