Ganyong (Canna edulis) is common alternative snack among villagers in southern part of central Java. its starch content can be usedfor making “soon” (white noddle). in the future ganyong ispotentialforstaplefoodand other usage due to its nutrition content. At the village ofJlegiwinangun, ganyong was planted as inter cropping plant in the field and in the home garden. Productivity of ganyong planted in the field was higher (22 ton/ ha) than the home garden (IS ton/ha). Amount of vertilizer used were 70 kg of urea and 70 kg of 7SF Among the two varietas used, the Kebumen and the Karang Gayam, the Kebumen was higher in nutrient content than the Karang Gayam. The carbohidrat content was 88.22% in Kebumen and 87.72% in Karang Gayam. The starch content was 84.14% in Kebumen and 75.89% in Karang Gayam, and the amilose was 35.74 % in Kebumen and 35.43% in Karang Gayam.
