Abstract
Background.Patient who had previously suffered a stroke, had a higher risk for recurrent stroke attack. Recurrent stroke requires high cost, causing depression in the patients, aggravate the patients’s condition and increase the death rate. Previous studies have stated the risk factors for recurrent stroke are heart disease, atrial fibrillation, cigarette consumption, diabetes and hypertension. This research was conducted to find out how the analysis of ischemic stroke risk factor in Atma Jaya Hospital.
Methods. This study takes data of ischemic stroke patients from Stroke Registry in 2015-2016. This research was a multivariate analysis study with cross-sectional design. The data were analyzed by using chi square test to find correlation between risk factors with recurrent ischemic stroke with the confidence interval in this study is 95%. The analysis was continued with multivariate analysis using logistic regression to see the risk factor that contribute the most to recurrent ischemic stroke at Atma Jaya Hospital.
Results. The sample are 119 ischemic stroke patients registered in stroke registry in Atma Jaya Hospital that fulfilled inclusion and exclusion criteria.Data analysis showed that Dyslipidemia was the most contributing independent factor in the incidence of recurrent ischemic stroke in Atma Jaya Hospital with OR value 3,737 (95% CI 1,327-10,526).
Conclusion. This study found that ischemic stroke patient with Dyslipidemia as independent factor had a 3 times higher risk of recurrent ischemic stroke attack compared with patient without Dyslipidemia.
