Abstract
Background: Jigsaw is one of the learning methods used in the field of medical education. Therefore, it is necessary to be tested its effectiveness on improving student's knowledge. In addition, it is also important to know the factors that play a role in the effectiveness of jigsaw learning.
Objectives: To know the effectiveness of jigsaw learning method and to analyze student opinion about jigsaw learning method as a method of learning in FKUAJ.
Methods: This research is a cross sectional research using mixed-method approach. Quantitative data collection in this research will be done by one group pre-test post-test design method, then the data will be tested its normality with Kolmogorov-smirnov test. Normality test results will be considered normal if P> 0.05. while for qualitative research will use indepth interview method, which then will be classified by code by researcher.
Results: In the quantitative study, the normality test showed a value> 0.05, thus providing normal data distribution. then paired t-test showed that the result <0.05, so it can be concluded that jigsaw learning method is effective in increasing the student's knowledge about iron deficiency anemia. The results of qualitative research also shows that the factors that play a role in jigsaw learning are lecturer, group, individual, and technical learning.
Conclusions: The jigsaw learning method is effective in increasing the students' knowledge of iron deficiency anemia. In addition, the results of the interviews provide results that factors that affect jigsaw learning methods are lecturers, group friends, individuals, technical learning.
