Abstract
Backgrounds : WHO states that pulmonary tuberculosis is a global emergency that must be addressed jointly by all countries in the world. Control of tuberculosis by administering BCG vaccination is one of the efforts in preventing increased mortality. The effectiveness of BCG vaccine in preventing tuberculosis varies between 0-80%. The internal factors in the form of nutritional status is one of the factors that affect the effectiveness of BGC vaccine.
Method : This research is an analytic research with cross-sectional data taking involving 58 respondents from local residents of Penjaringan and Tambora. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires that included large scar measurements based on the Immunization Guidelines in Indonesia 2014 and viewing medical records in the form of immunization cards to see the nutritional status of infants when immunized. Data analysis is done by using computer program.
Result : In this research, we found that the group of respondents with good nutritional status have a greater percentage compared with the group of respondents who have less nutritional status to the effectiveness of BCG vaccine ; 34.05% VS 9.1%.
But statistically, the result of analysis with Pearson Chi-Square test showed that nutritional status as independent variable did not have a significant relationship to the effectiveness of BCG vaccine as dependent variable with p = 0.102 (p <0.05).
Conclussion : There is no significant relationship between nutritional status and effectiveness of BCG vaccine.
